Otto Blümel
Otto Blümel was in born in 1881 and attended the Faculty of Architecture in Munich. After graduating in 1904, he worked as a freelancer at Debschitz Schule in Munich and later, between 1907 and 1914, he specialized in the design of furniture pieces and directed the design studio of Vereinigte Werkstätten in the same city. During this period he met Herman Hesse, with whom he later collaborated. Between 1916 and 1949, Blümel attended the Partenkirchen-Schnitzschule, or sculpture school, with whom he worked as a drawing teacher and from 1920 as a conductor. Furthermore, Blümel was the honorary director of the Heimatmuseum for about 40 years. The city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen nominated him an honorary citizen in 1963..
