Carlo De Carli
Carlo De Carli, born in 1910, and graduated at the Politecnico di Milano in 1934. He worked with Gio Ponti and later with Renato Angeli, opening a studio with him. De Carli is considered one of the pioneers of the Italian style of furniture, not limited to the creation of furnishings, but also of large-scale works such as prominent buildings as Sant'Erasmo theather or the church of Sant'Ildefonso. In 1940 he started working with the Triennale, leading him to be a member of the Executive Committee and of the Board of Directors. In 1948 he began his university career becoming assistant of Gio Ponti. In 1954 he won the Compasso d'Oro with the 683 chair for Cassina. He passed away in 1999.
