Gio Ponti

Gio Ponti
Gio Ponti was born in 1891. He graduated as architect at the Politecnico of Mian in 1921. He is a world-famous architect: he designed the Pirellone as well as for the multitude of national and international buildings. As designer he explored the art and the science behind furniture, founding the renowed magazine Domus. Later he will also found magazine Stile. He was an eclectic star, shifting for architecture to product design, passing through costumes for La Scala in Milan, lamps up to cutlery. Gio Ponti is the creator of the Superleggera chair, designed for Cassina. During the collaboration with Montina he designed a chair that today is reproduced as a tribute to his mastery. He died in 1979.
